Give Thanks and Give Back
For many of us, preparations are well underway for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Travel arrangements have been made, recipes sorted and extra chairs brought to the table as we welcome friends, family and loved ones into our homes to reflect on all there is for which we are thankful.
At the MRF, that gratitude centers around our incredible community and the generosity they show. This year thousands came together to support one another and raise much needed funds at 15 Miles for Melanoma run/walks. Young melanoma warriors and their families from across the country met at the Pediatric Melanoma Summit in Colorado Springs, CO. Wings of Hope for Melanoma gala attendees joined us in Denver, San Francisco, Chicago and New York to celebrate our heroes in the melanoma community and raised over one million dollars for melanoma research and education! All the while, dedicated researchers, scientists and physicians were hard at work advancing the field of melanoma science and bringing us closer to more effective treatments and, one day, a cure for melanoma. Looking back, we have so much to be thankful for this year.
Looking ahead, we know this work is not done. As the MRF builds toward future research progress, increased education and awareness resources and additional support for people with melanoma and their families, we again look to our community to make it possible.
If you would like to support this work by making a gift on Giving Tuesday or including the MRF in year-end or future giving plans, we invite you to donate on our website, have your Giving Tuesday gift matched on Facebook, start your holiday shopping with AmazonSmile, Shop for Good with our cause marketing partners, or explore the many other ways to show your support.
On behalf of the entire MRF team, we extend our sincerest gratitude and wish you a happy, healthy holiday season!
If you are interested in supporting the MRF through planned giving, donor advised funds or other methods that may have additional tax benefits, please contact Chief Development Officer Kyleigh LiPira at klipira@melanoma.org.
