Please support my fundraising efforts for the Melanoma Research Foundation!
The cure for melanoma begins with me.
For the 11th year in a row, I’m joining the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) for their signature Miles for Melanoma event in Chicago’s Grant Park. Miles for Melanoma is a 5K run/walk, but it’s also a place where people will gather to fight against melanoma. I am asking you to join us.
Why? On December 17, 2017, I lost my rock, my best friend, my everything. He fought a 7 year battle and did so with such strength and courage. He is forever my hero and the strongest person I know. Bob was by no means a sun worshiper. When he had his initial surgery to remove the melanoma from his left upper thigh in April, 2011, I asked the surgeon 'How could melanoma develop in an area that did not get sun as his shorts & pants covered that part of the thigh?' The surgeon responded 'He must have had a few bad sunburns when he was young, and in those days kids wore shorter shorts so the skin would have been exposed. Melanoma can present itself later on in life.' Which in this case, it unfortunately did. There are many misconceptions about this disease. My goal is to educate people about prevention, sun safety, and the seriousness of the disease.
Another reason I participate is to support the Melanoma Research Foundation’s efforts to find effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma.
Please consider joining our team, making a donation, or simply open the link below and educate yourself about melanoma and skin cancer.
