Please support my fundraising efforts for the Melanoma Research Foundation!
The cure for melanoma begins with me.
I was diagnosed with melanoma in 2009. Surgery removed it, and my lymph nodes were clean, so we thought I was good to go! Unfortunately, the melanoma re-appeared on my arm in 2013. Scans showed that it had also metastasized to both of my lungs. I am grateful every day that I was eligible for a clinical trial at Massachusetts General Hospital. This trial (ever seen the commercials for Opdivo + Yervoy? That's me!), along with the prayers of many family and friends, saved my life. I have been cancer-free for nine years now!
Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer, and we all want a cure to be found soon. Miles for Melanoma is the way people come together to take action and help support this fight and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation.
Significant advancement continues to be made in improved detection, new drug treatments and better survival rates. This progress has been built on the breakthroughs made fighting other types of cancers, as well as the existing foundation of melanoma research.
There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight! I will be walking this year in the 2024 Miles for Melanoma New England 5K, which is taking place on Saturday, May 4th at Franklin Park in Boston. I would appreciate your support! The energy, enthusiasm and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and many futures. I know it impacted mine!
