2019 Miles for Melanoma New Jersey

Team JVT

This is our 8th year participating in a 5k to help support the fight against melanoma!

Jessica Tyrol lost her battle with melanoma on May 15, 2012 after only being diagnosed in October, 2011.

Jess Tyrol graduated from the University of Delaware in 2010 with degrees in Finance and Marketing. She was a beloved sister of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, where she was not only an amazing sister, but also a wonderful friend. Jess had recently started a new chapter in her life: she was working as an Equity Analyst at Bloomberg and had moved to Philadelphia with friends from college when she was diagnosed with melanoma in October. Less than seven months later, she was taken from us.

Jess was an amazing daughter, sister, and friend. We miss her so much and think of her everyday. We know she is watching over us and looking down on us each day. Let's get together to raise money in her honor to hopefully one day beat this horrible disease.

Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer and we all want a cure to be found soon. Miles for Melanoma is the way people come together to take action and help support this fight and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation.

Every step matters and every step counts. Significant advancement has been made in the past few years in improved detection, new drug treatments and better survival rates. This progress has been built on the breakthroughs made fighting other types of cancers, as well as the existing foundation of melanoma research.

There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight. The energy, enthusiasm and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and many future.
