Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer and we all want a cure to be found soon. Miles for Melanoma is the way people come together to take action and help support this fight and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation, and Team Melanomore is comprised of melanoma survivors, and walkers/runners who have been very closely touched by the cancer.
(Bri's mother) Teresa has survived melanoma twice, 27 years ago and 1 year ago. Bri herself had one precancerous mole removed in 2017.
Paul and Hannah's mother Deborah has survived melanoma twice, and is 2 years clear as of August 2019.
Mara's grandfather died from melanoma in 1996, and her friend from graduate school is a melanoma survivor.
Kate’s best friend and father-in-law both survived melanoma. She found out about the MRF when a dear friend of one of her closest friend’s tragically died from melanoma, leaving two young children behind.
Every step matters and every step counts. Significant advancement has been made in the past few years in improved detection, new drug treatments and better survival rates. This progress has been built on the breakthroughs made fighting other types of cancers, as well as the existing foundation of melanoma research.
There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight. The energy, enthusiasm and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and many future.
