Bouncing for Betsy
The cure for melanoma begins with me.
As most of you know I am a stage 4 melanoma survivor and I continue to successfully fight this disease every day. Four years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma and had about two weeks to live. By some great miracle I was given a target therapy medication that saved my life. Thanks to organizations like the Melanoma Research Foundation and their initiatives, I am alive today. This race/walk and organization means a lot to me as I would like to give something back to the melanoma community for all their help and leadership.
I won't be able to run for a long time due to two brain tumor surgeries this past year, which left my left leg weak and with a major footdrop, but I have been and will continue to turn my story into something positive by sharing this event with friends, colleagues, and family. Please join my family and me in person Saturday, September 14, for the 5K at Hudson River Park Pier 84 (registration password is Rags1975) or via a donation to my team, Bouncing for Betsy.
Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest growing form of skin cancer and we all want a cure to be found soon. Miles for Melanoma is a way people come together to take action and help support this fight and the mission of the Melanoma Research Foundation.
There is more to be done and a long way to go, but the finish line is in sight. The energy, enthusiasm and encouragement from patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the medical community impacts many lives and many future.
Will you please help me reach my fundraising goal? A gift of any amount is never too small and TOGETHER we are making an impact in the fight against melanoma.
Step up and donate to Miles for Melanoma today. Thank you for taking the time to visit my page!
